It might be unusual for a train station to be a tourist spot, but it does exist in some parts of Korea. One of them is Yonggung Station in Yecheon-gun located in North Gyeongsang province. Situated in a small rural town, the train station is tiny, old-style and has an open view of the sky and its natural surroundings. Those are reasons behind its touristic charisma. Inside the station is Jara Café and across from it is a snack shop called Tokkigan Ppang. Jara Café is a small, cozy coffee shop that offers a variety of tasty beverages. Meanwhile, Tokkigan Ppang is named after its specialty snack, a small red bean-filled bread that is supposed to be shaped like a rabbit’s liver (Tokki means rabbit, Gan means liver and Ppang means bread.) Throughout the years, the snack shop made more variety of snacks such as calcium biscuits and cream-filled bread, Yecheon Hwal Ppang.
