Gyeongsangbuk-do Tour Reporter: Lalien Guillen
There is no denying it, autumn had finally bid its goodbye and winter has arrived, whether we like it or not. In fact, I woke up to a snowy morning here in our city, Gumi.
As the temperature drops lower and lower each day, people tend to stay indoors more and more. Of course, there is no perfect place to hang out in this cold season but in a warm and cozy café. Let me introduce a special café here in our city named, Healivery: an urban healing café.
It is on the third floor of a building across from Indong Post Office which is very easy to find. You can take a bus* from Gumi Station and get off at Indong Bus Stop and it just takes a short walk from there going to the café. For those who drive, they have a parking space behind the building, in front of Indong Elementary School.
The interior of the café is modern and beautiful
You can relax on the classy sofas next to the window with on overlooking view of the street outside. The hanging chandeliers also add elegance to the place
If you are in need of some outlets for your gadgets, you can take a seat on one of these eye-pleasing tables and chairs.
The interior design is already giving off a relaxing atmosphere, but it is the Heal Zone that makes this café special
Inside the Heal Zone are 3D electric massage chairs separated by cubicles for better privacy. The room is lit dimly and relaxing music can be heard in the background.
Before sitting on the massage chair, you must take off your shoes and put them inside a shoe sanitizer machine. You will be given a pair of foot cover for hygienic purposes. You can put your watch or other accessory on a small basket above the shoe sanitizer because the massage chairs have arm rests.
Oh, make sure to keep your phone in silent mode and now you are fully ready for 20 minutes of healing time on the massage chair. If you need some assistance, just push the green button near you.
During the healing massage experience, your hair can get a bit messy. But, worry not! They have a powder room where you can fix your hair.
You won’t be squirmy to use the combs and hair brushes because they are kept in a sanitizer.
After the relaxing time, enjoy your favorite beverage. Or you can also enjoy drinking first before going to Heal Zone. Depending on your choice of drink, you can enjoy Heal Zone for free. If your drink is not qualified for free Heal Zone experience, you can just add 500 won more and you are off to Heal Zone.
Aside from the regular coffee and other beverage selections, they have a coconut-based menu which quite unique.
I was really curious with the coconut coffee so it was a must try for me and I was not disappointed about my decision. The presentation was very beautiful and unexpected! The coffee came in a real coconut fruit and I just loved the unlikely mixture of coffee and coconut tastes together
I also tried their Ham & Cheese Panini and I was in cloud nine! The dish came with potato fries (with ketchup dip, of course) and a piece of banana drizzled with chocolate syrup. It was a complete and balanced meal, I must say.
Truly, a dish that smells good and looks good, only means that it tastes good!
Healivery Urban Healing Café stays true to its name. The Heal Zone was awesome. The café’s interior was beautifully cozy. And they take their food presentation very seriously. Therefore, don’t miss your chance to visit Healivery Café when you visit Gumi City this winter!
