Seokguram Grotto, the National Treasure no. 24, was said to be founded by Kim Dae-sung, the prime minister who served King Gyeongdeok of Silla, in the first year of the king's reign, on the site 3km away from the Bulguksa Temple by the mountain trails, and 9km away from the temple by modern roads. The grotto has highly organized design that harmonized squares & circles, straight lines & curves, and plane & spheres. 38 reliefs on the wall of the grotto were all masterfully carved, and the grotto itself has highly philosophical and scientific features, with the principal statue of Buddha made of white granite looking down the East Sea.
