There is a small rocky island only 200m away from the shore of Bonggil-ri village. The island is the underwater Tomb of King Munmu, the 30th king of Silla (661-681). The surface of 2m-wide rocky island has a cross waterway that stretches from north to south, and east to west, and its center is bored into a small hole, which is presumed to be the storage for the remains of the king, and is covered by giant rock by the height of 3.6m, width of 2.85m, and thickness of 0.9m, and placed 2m under from the surface of the sea. It is still unclear whether the remain of the king was cremated or buried inside the hole, and has researchers are still continuing debates on the matter. The giant coverstone is now called the Daewangam, and is now the Historic Site no. 158.
